Final Reflection “Exam”
I would first reply that every student learns differently and it is important to nurture and help those needs. Text, visuals, and interactive tools dramatically increase participation, attitude, and comprehension. Sometimes teachers may just talk and talk and bore students to death, but I find that I can gain their attention and interest when we do stuff that the students can relate to and like doing. Today’s students are used to technology and use it every day in their daily lives. If we can integrate some into learning then they will enjoy school much more.
Technology also helps teachers out in numerous ways. Virtual field trips and activities on websites are just a few of the ways teachers can bring the material to life in the classrooms without actually ever leaving. There is so much more learning that can be done on the internet that can supplement the textbook readings and lectures from class. There is something that will help every student, even if they have trouble with the subject or if they have a learning disability because technology is now a universal language that mostly everyone knows how to use appropriately. Technology has become so advanced now that there are specially designed computers and tools for students with visual and hearing disabilities.
After going through a whole semester, I realized my thoughts on teaching with technology have changed. It seems like it easier to teach a lesson with some kind of technology as a helper. I did not know just how much different everyone is when it comes to learning styles and strengths and weaknesses. Technology can help level the playing field and get students motivated and interested in topics normally not interesting to them.
